1. Malaria

It is caused by the protozoan Plasmodium spp. (P.vivax, P.falciparum, P.malariae or P.ovale) and is spread by the female Anopheles mosquito that transfers the pathogen from an infected person to a healthy one.

Symptoms

Fever occurs at regular intervals. Headaches and nausea are common along with bouts of shivering followed by sweat. The patient experiences muscle pain and weakness and fever fluctuates from 100* F to 104*F.

2. Typhoid

The disease is caused by the bacterium Salmonella typhi and is highly infectious. The bacteria are present in human faeces, and a healthy person may fall prey to the disease by consuming contaminated food and water.

Symptoms

The first indication of the disease is a prolonged fever that begins to rise on the fifth day. Headache and confusion are common along with severe abdominal pain. By the second week, the patient could develop a rash and might experience diarrhoea.

3. Dengue fever

Highly dreaded, it is a mosquito-borne infection that causes a severe flu-like illness. Dengue can vary from mild to severe; the more severe forms include dengue shock syndrome and dengue hemorrhagic fever. Serious cases need hospitalization.

Symptoms

There is severe pain in the body muscles and joints. Rashes can appear and disappear or reappear with high fever, nausea and headache.

4. Respiratory Allergies

Respiratory tract infections are common during this time. Person can suffer with allergic rhinitis, sinusitis or asthma; especially people prone to this disorder are highly susceptible during the season.

Symptoms

There is a continuous bout of sneezing along with watery discharge from the nose. The person feels pain in sinuses with pressure behind eyes and sometimes feels short of breath.

5. Skin allergies

Wet season is not very skin friendly. If one gets wet the person can develop itching on the skin or rashes too. Humid condition aggravates the skin problems, so it is important for a person to take bath after he gets wet in rains to avoid bacterial and fungal infections.

6. Gastroenteritis

Most common ailment during the season, so avoid road side eateries, juice from street vendors etc.

Symptoms:

The person may complaint of acute abdominal pain with diarrhea, loose stools and vomiting.

7. Hair fall

With high humidity sweating of scalp increases. Sweating leads to dandruff, oscalp or Seboorhoeic Dermatitis which leads to Hair fall.
